MAD in Holland began in 1964 and they started right off with a distinctive “Netherlands Only” cover. Most of the next issues used US covers and material. There are quite a few local covers though. Starting with issue # 225 a new art director must have taken over. The position of the word “MAD” was changed from the top center to the left edge center and from then on (with few exceptions) the covers were a very distinctive style that was only seen on the Netherlands edition of MAD.
269 regular issues were printed along with many specials and albums. Publication stopped in 1994.
10/2019 – Seems that there was a short run of new regular issues in the Netherlands in 2011. I have acquired the first issue.
